The WV Ready Work-Based Learning program is a semester-long program in which businesses partner with high schools to provide students with career awareness through a virtual job-shadowing and internship.

Weekly Job Shadowing Modules

  • One hour virtual call with a different business every week.
  • Job Shadowing Modules align with WVDE 16 career clusters.
  • Rotating “live” schedule with recordings available to watch later.
  • 30 minutes of job shadowing - virtual company tour, career opportunities, degrees/certifications needed.
  • 30 minutes of soft professional skill facilitation by company HR.
  • Mentoring Calls & Capstone Project

  • One business is matched with one school for the entire semester.
  • The business provides weekly mentoring calls with a different company department every week.
  • The business works with the class on a capstone project based on design thinking.
  • Student teams present the capstone project at the end of the semester.
  • Students receive graduation cord and certificate of completion.
