About the 2021 WV Education Summit and Our Expert Speakers

The 2021 summit, focused on the theme “Jumpstarting Student Career Pathways” was a hybrid gathering that offered both in-person and online participation on October 13th. Our interactive programming explored the latest research, innovative practices and emerging policy approaches to actively support excellence in education for all learners. From engaging keynote remarks to panel discussions and networking opportunities, this hybrid event provided attendees with knowledge and tools for advancing career pathway opportunities for West Virginia students.

Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Intuit

Dave Zasada is responsible for building the vision, strategy and plan to achieve targeted outcomes in the Education market through partnerships in support of the Intuit mission to power prosperity around the world. In his keynote address, Dave will share innovative practices and approaches to actively support excellence in education for all learners. Afterwards, he’ll have a fireside chat with WV Superintendent of Schools, Clayton Burch, as they discuss the importance of supporting student career pathways.

W. Clayton Burch has served as an advisor to national organizations, the U.S. Department of Education, multiple governors and a past presidential committee on early childhood education. His passion for and commitment to the Mountain State has allowed him to use his leadership and proven ability to advance the status of teaching and learning and while serving the children and families of West Virginia.

Lisa Deck is an experienced Director Of Education with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. She works with employers, schools, students, and community stakeholders to scale-up and sustain critical programs around manufacturing and STEM related careers while maintaining an emphasis on professional and technical skills necessary to be successful in the workforce. She has refined professional skills in Nonprofit Organizations, Career Development, Coaching, Team Building, and Management.
