AmeriCorps Opportunities at The Education Alliance

The Education Alliance offers three national service programs that support school success, college access and innovative education programming. This year, we will be expanding our AmeriCorps programs so that every West Virginia student can be WV Ready. Those interested in becoming an Education Alliance AmeriCorps member can fill out the interest form at the bottom of this page.

Help at-risk students succeed in school

  • 8-month commitment (September - May)
  • 22 hours week (675 hours total) providing mentoring services to students
  • Earn a total of $6,353 living allowance payment. A living allowance is not considered a wage and candidates are still eligible for federal assistance
  • Earn $2,417.14 education award to pay for college or repay student loans (if eligible)
    Service-related transportation reimbursement
  • Loan forbearance and deferment
  • GRE fee reduction (depending on undergraduate institution decision)
  • Education Award Match (depending on institution)
  • Professional development opportunities
  • West Virginia AmeriCorps Tuition Waiver
  • 65 full and part-time positions are available in Kanawha, Logan, Pleasants, and Wood Counties.

    Help increase college access and enrollment

  • 8-month commitment (September - May)

    Help provide innovative education programming

  • Full-time, 1 year commitment
  • 35 hours week
  • Earn a total of $17,600 living allowance payment. A living allowance is not considered a wage and candidates are still eligible for federal assistance
  • Earn $6,495 education award to pay for college or repay student loans OR $1,800 stipend at end of service term
  • Health coverage plan/healthcare reimbursement allowance (medical, dental, vision)
  • Life insurance
  • Child care assistance (if eligible)
  • Relocation travel allowance and settling-in allowance
  • Service-related transportation reimbursement
  • Loan forbearance and deferment
  • GRE fee reduction (depending on undergraduate institution decision)
  • Education Award Match (depending on institution)
  • 10 days personal leave and 10 days medical leave
  • Professional development opportunities
  • 1 year of Non-competitive eligibility status
  • West Virginia AmeriCorps Tuition Waiver
  • 6 full-time positions are available in Harrison, Kanawha, Lincoln, and Upshur Counties.
