What is STEM Works?

The Education Alliance has a history of supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. The STEM Works innovative is a collaboration with business and industry leaders to enhance West Virginia’s workforce readiness for the ever increasing STEM-related careers in the state.

The Education Alliance currently supports STEM education through the Energizing steM project that uses a two-part approach to strengthen math in elementary grades and to promote the importance of math to the broader community. The project provides 2,000 elementary students in Lincoln and Logan counties with an effective computer-based supplemental curriculum to improve math outcomes. The project also promotes a greater public understanding of the need for STEM, builds STEM career awareness, and provides a specific focus on the critical role of building strong Math skills. The Energizing steM project is made possible through major funding from the American Electric Power Foundation.
